Kathrene “Kathy” Demarais, 72, of Grand Rapids, Minnesota died Saturday, August 6, 2011 in Evergreen Terrace, Grand Rapids, Minnesota.
Kathy was born in 1938 in Grand Rapids, Minnesota to Roger and Clarice Gooch. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1956. After Kathy completed Hibbing Cosmetology, she moved to Mt. Iron, Minnesota. On June 3, 1978, she was united in marriage to Michael Demarais in Mt. Iron, Minnesota. The day after their wedding Kathy and Mike moved to Grand Rapids, Minnesota where they have lived ever since. While traveling with Mike due to his trade, Kathy attended various painting classes across the United States. From 1982 until 2004, Kathy owned and operated Kdee’s Country Crafts and also attended many shows in the area selling her crafts. She was employed at Brier’s Clothing as a sales associate from 2004 until 2010. Kathy had an abundance of love and pride for her family and enjoyed gardening and flowers.
She is preceded in death by her father, Roger; two brothers, Gary and Bryan Gooch; and two sisters, Myrna Laudenbach and Janet Marie Gooch.
Survived by husband, Michael; one son, Mark Yost of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Brenda (Michael) Bateson of New Port Richey, Florida and Lori Yost of Florida; mother, Clarice Gooch of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; brothers, Arthur (Becky) Gooch of Chandler, Arizona and Stephen (Denise) Gooch of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; one grandson, Bryce Yost of Minnetonka, Minnesota; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Kathy’s life will be held Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. in Rowe Funeral Home, Grand Rapids, Minnesota. A graveside service will be held Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Wildwood Cemetery, Cohasset, Minnesota with a luncheon to follow at the Community Bible Chapel, Cohasset, Minnesota. Pastor Jon Mendonsa will officiate.
