INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW:

Items listed as Cemetery Costs and Crematory Costs are items for which we will pay for and arrange on behalf of the family. They are not necessarily funeral home charges. Other items. which are not included, (Flowers, Gratuities, etc.) may be paid for by the funeral home on behalf of the family and will then be added to the funeral expenses.

Burial Vaults may be required by an individual cemetery. They are required to protect the grave, keep the grave from settling, keep monuments and markers level and to generally maintain the grave. This then saves the cemetery time, expense and liability. A wide range of vaults are available to families and are selected at the funeral home just as a casket is selected. They are NOT required by state law - they are simply a Cemetery requirement.

Cremation Containers are containers made of combustible materials which are used to hold and transport the remains of a person to be cremated. They are normally required by the Crematory in order to protect the Crematory personnel from coming into direct contact with the remains. Crematories are not licensed funeral homes and are therefore not permitted to directly handle the physical remains of a dead human being. Cremation containers are available from the funeral home and are part of the included costs.

Casket and Cremation Containers may be provided by the family. It is not required that they be purchased from the funeral home. A family providing their own Casket or Cremation Container would then substract that cost from the Funeral expenses. A prior check with the Funeral Home should be made in order to make sure that a casket or container provided by the family is of proper design and manufacturer and that other expenses are not involved. Families who wish to purchase a casket from a commercial retailer are well advised to check with the funeral home first, as retail casket outlets are not necessarily less expensive and their advertised savings do not exist.
